This is an excellent and well made product that does exactly what I got it for – it makes a lovely cup of tea (with its’ well designed tea basket attachment) as well as an excellent cup of coffee. The maker is well designed, seems to be quite sturdy and has a surprisingly small footprint for something with an attached coffee grinder. All in all an excellent item!
I do want to warn buyers however that the coffee filter being advertised as being frequently bought with it – Cuisinart GTF Gold Tone Filter does NOT fit this coffee maker. It is a filter designed for a 10 cup pot and this is only a 6 cup pot! I have not found a reusable filter that does fit this pot but if I do I will post it here. Meanwhile – I continue to use the Melitta #2 filters.

Great little machine… too bad it’s discontinued. – Diela – Texas
I’ve been using this little machine for the past two months, and I have to say I love it. The grinder works well, and the filter efficiently gets rid of the nasty aftertaste in my local tapwater, making for a delcious pot of coffee or tea.

However, the water percolating up from the tank has started overflowing the filter recently. I’ve tried re-seating the filter, but it doesn’t seem to help. Water still seeps around the upper edges of where it attaches to the main body of the unit… like it can’t drip through the filter fast enough. Okay, I thought, I’ll get a new filter. Amazon doesn’t have any, so I go to the us.Sanyo.com website. They’re out of stock, and the coffee maker has been removed from their store as well.

I love the machine, but it looks like I got it just before they gave up on it. A pity.

Not for me! – credible – Tacoma
Thought I would give this thing a try because of the positive reviews posted here. Never thought making such a mediocre cup of coffee could be such a pain. Grinder doesn’t grind, it chops–and is a mess to keep clean. I count upward of 10 loose parts to keep track of and clean. More trouble than it’s worth. I suggest a burr-type grinder and using a French Press or even a simple Melitta. The Sanyo is fairly quiet when brewing so I think I’ll just use it for heating the water and go back to my old French Press.

Overall OK, but strong plastic smell – Alexander Radi –
The machine works fine, although the design of the coffee pot is a little bulky. You have to carry the filter around with the glass pot.
The biggest problem was the strong plastic smell of the brewed coffee, which didn’t go away even after several times of brewing. The water container and all internal plastic tubes release this smell into the hot water and you taste/smell it later in the coffee. As it didn’t go away after several days of use, we returned the machine.
