We love this although it is our second one, the first lasted about a year. Hopefully this one will last longer. It is nice because we never waste coffee by throwing out the last cup in the big pot that no one drank because it was too old or cold. No pots to clean, you make it right in the cup. Everyone can make it to their own taste. No special coffee filters or packages you have to buy, just use your regular coffee.

Burn out
I liked the single cup plan with little prep time. Unfortunately, the heating element burned out within a week and I had to return it. Amazon makes that easy, too! It's a great concept kitchen item, but I got the defective one.

Perfect for freshness every time
For years, I have been the only coffee drinker in my house, and hated the taste of coffee after sitting in a carafe for more than an hour. I came upon this beverage center in a store about four years ago and have been hooked ever since. Every cup of coffee I make is FRESH and quick without the weird taste of instant coffee. Even if someone comes to visit, I can quickly brew two cups (one after the other). A few weeks ago, it started to show signs of wear as in water buildup (because I didn't vinegar clean it ever), and in a panic of maybe not being able to use it soon, I went on a search in the stores. No luck. Good old Amazon.com. Got my new beverage center within a week, and now I have it still sitting in the box with the peace of mind that when my old faithful gives up, I won't be without it for even one day. By the way, I now clean my beverage center with a vinegar rinse once a month like they suggested, so between the two of them, I'm set for years to come.

Poor product
I am on my THIRD machine. It keeps leaking water after a short time, and HB keeps replacing it, but I don't have much time left on my warranty, and I cannot recommend this product that keeps failing.

WARNING: Several Amazon vendors misrepresenting inferior 47455E as top rated 47454!
I am glad to see that Amazon has corrected the item description about this coffee maker.

Two vendors on Amazon (Monster Hot Deals and K&M Supplies) were advertising this coffee maker, model #47455E as being a model #47454 that Consumer Reports ranked as their top rated coffee maker. I had to return both shipments. One vendor, Monster Hot Deals sent me an email when I questioned it telling me that they were the same. Be careful when dealing with them.

The model 47455E is a model that was made for Costco to distribute in their stores exclusively (per Hamilton Beach customer service at 800-851-8900) and in fact this model #47455E does not even appear on the Hamilton Beach website as a current model, ([...]).

If you are searching for a model #47454 please call Hamilton Beach customer service before purchasing this inferior model, #47455E.

I did finally find the real model #47454 and am just loving it. Drinking a yummy cup of coffee as I type this.

Survivor!
I received the coffee maker, shipped in its packaging and not in a shipping container. In spite of this, it arrived OK and is making great coffee. Everything works fine. I have had no issues with it.

Hamilton Beach Brewstation
The brewstation was better than expected. I had purchased before the basic brewstation at a higher price. This is a beautiful appliance to have sitting on your kitchen counter.

Office Coffee Pot
In an effort to cut costs, we got rid of our coffee service. I went online to select a coffee pot to meet our needs. This pot has worked well for us. It keeps the coffee hot for several hours without getting a burned taste. It dispenses well and is easy to clean and set up. A bonus is that travel mugs or tall cups fit just fine for dispensing.

I like it a lot - so far....
I really like this machine. I like the design, the convenience and the coffee it makes, BUT...I bought one of these a few years ago and loved it - until it started leaking. There were several times that I'd start it brewing, come back 10 minutes later and find coffee all over the counter and floor. I cleaned the valve regularly and still had the problem. I bought a different machine after that one, but didn't like it nearly as well. So I'm taking a chance again...making sure to keep it clean to that nothing accumulates that could make the valve stick. It's only been about 6 weeks, but I haven't had any problems.

Warning!!! Item Leaks While You Sleep...
We're into our 2nd year of ownership and everything had been pretty good up until recently. Before, the coffee maker always made a decent pot of hot coffee and it was quite reliable in that it would be on and waiting for us when we woke up each morning.

Recently the coffee maker has started leaking from the cold water reservoir and so each morning we find a large puddle of water (not coffee) on our counter top - wonderful. The reservoir isn't totally leaking, not yet anyway. I may open it up and see if I can make a repair otherwise it will be tossed....another cheap piece of disposable junk. Caveat emptor!

Nice coffee, nice price
I've tested it today, everything is ok, the shipping from amazon is double-boxed, because It was shipped oversears. The coffee has good taste, i really missed the permanent filter, but the paper filters are very cheap.
It's a little bigger than I expected, and the glass seems a little delicate.
The programmable timer works perfect, a nice price quality combination.

Seems a nice maker,just started using,IT DOESN'T LEAK and the carafe doesn't DRIP when i pour it,It replaced a ONE YEAR OLD Mr.Coffee that did both.

Very nice Coffee maker!
I was looking for a coffee maker with 1) an automatic 2 hour shut off 2) got the water nice and hot 3) that didn't spill when I was pouring. Well this Hamilton Beach does the job and as an added benefit, is easy to take care of.

Now oddly enough, I don't use my coffee maker to make coffee! I use it to make my tea. Here's what I do. I take 2 one qt tea bags, lay them at the bottom of the carafe, and then pour the sugar on top of the bags. If the water doesn't get hot enough then the sugar doesn't melt and I'm left with a rock-hard sugar substance on the bottom the the carafe! If the carafe doesn't clean easily, then it is a mess to take care of. And if it doesn't turn itself off, then I get burnt tea!

I would recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable, well built coffee maker, even if they only ever use it to make great tea.

Quit working, poorly made
This percolator makes good coffee until the electrical parts start failing within a few months. First I had to wiggle the power cord to make connection. This worked for a couple of months. Now it immediately goes into warmer mode when it is first plugged in. It will not percolate. Don't buy this poorly made unit. Waste of money. I was extremely careful not to immerse or soak the unit when washing, but still total failure in a few months. Junk.

I love it!! Makes excellent, hot coffee!
The coffee tastes great and the percolator keeps the coffee hot hot hot! Will never go back to a standard coffee maker.

Great looking coffee pot
I bought this for my husband for Father's Day. It makes good coffee and looks much better on the counter top than the old drip coffee pot. Doesn't take up as much room either. Love the fact that it doesn't need basket filters.

Quick and Hot!
I have used many types of coffee makers. I reverted to the old standby, the percolator. I am particularly pleased with my Hamilton Beach coffee maker. It makes coffee with very hot water and keeps it hot. The only improvement I would like to have is a switch that holds in a warm mode so that the coffee does not have to be served immediately. If left on for more than 30 minutes
the coffee becomes too strong.

Going another round
We ordered this same percolator four years ago and though still working it's showing signs of wearing out. So, we ordered another one and have it waiting in the wings. In our opinion, this has performed exceptionally well...has been reliable...and makes very good coffee. The price isn't bad either!

Leaks coffee everywhere
How hard could it possibly be to build a decent coffee maker? I'm now shopping for the fourth coffee maker this month. This one has a poor design -- the spigot is too near the inside wall of the unit, so if the side of your coffee cup is thicker than about 3/16" it will dump coffee all over your counter. Forget using a travel mug.

Coffee is Fine, Dispenser is terrible.
We use it for our office. The coffee part works fine, but the dispenser nozzle is too close to the button, so you can't fill your cup without spilling it everywhere. I find myself using two hands to push the button and hold my cup, while standing side-ways to ensure the coffee is pouring right. It's actually a deal breaker and a real pain, I wouldn't buy one just for that reason. It makes great coffee, but it's not magic coffee, so I'd say try another model.

Brewstation Summit Ultra
Just bought this yesterday. Can't understand why people say it's messy. Had my first mug this AM and it was ready when I got out of bed. My Favorite mug is thick and heavy and I had no spills. My wife didn't have a problem either. We returned a Kuerig that we had purchased the before and after approx 1/8th cup stopped working.
The Brewstation is easy to clean and keeps the coffee very hot for the time you set.

very messy
i've had this for 3 months now and i wished i had purchased the more expensive cuisinart version which i am now buying.

there is NO way you can cleanly dispense coffee into a mug without bending over and looking closely at the cup and nozzle as you press it. i'm not an idiot - i have an md and a phd and i drink a lot of coffee. and i've had it with burning my hands and staining things with the little drip of coffee that runs down the side.

the coffee tastes fine but the messiness is what i was trying to avoid in the first place by avoiding the carafe.

dispenses warm coffee for hours, small hassles
I set up the coffee maker the night before and the next day I can drink coffee all morning long from a single pot, and the coffee does not get burnt. I love this feature! For this reason, I forgive its other faults.

On the plus side:
- good coffee
- warm for hours
- easy programmable settings.

On the negative side:
- If you don't orient your cup just so when you press the dispenser trigger, it drips on the counter. This happens to me about 1 time in 4, and it's a small mess so I just wipe it up.
- Pouring the water into the lower reservoir is awkward.

I really want to love this coffeemaker, however it is a big disappointment
I purchased this coffeemaker online, received it, and was excited to brew my first few cups of coffee. I have been searching high and low for a 4-6 cup maker with a 2 hour automatic shutoff. All the rest on the market are 1 hour shutoffs, so I was happy to find this model.

I like the design, had no trouble with it leaking externally and was pleased with the looks of the machine. However, once a pot was brewed, the coffeemaker continued to gurgle and sputter incessently. It was if some water was trapped in the maker and couldn't escape. I use the maker for a few days in hopes that the issue would resolve, however it never did, so I returned it and ordered another.

I got my second machine yesterday. The sputtering is gone, however this coffeemaker also continues to make a lot of noise after the brewing is over. It is different in nature than the last machine. On careful inspection, what is happening is the brewed coffee is boiling. The heating element that keeps the coffee hot must be too high, because the coffee is actually bubbling in the resevoir. This also means that there is a steady stream of steam coming out of the back of the maker after the coffee is brewed. The coffee will boil down if left to shut off after 2 hours. The steam/boiling sound does not cease until the unit is shut off, or the coffee has boiled away.

Sadly, I am going to return this one too.

Wouldn't buy again.
I wanted a smaller pot for my office, and this was on sale. However, I find it very hard to fill without spilling water all over the table. It is also difficult to fill the cup. I sometimes have to do multiple presses with my cup on the tab to restart the filling process. And when it gets to the bottom of the reservoir, I have to tip the whole machine for the coffee to come out. I'll go back to a traditional pot design when this one wears out.

Great Coffeemaker
I bought this coffemaker because we had the larger Hamilton Beach Brew Station and it started leaking water. Plus, my husband and I now work different "morning" shifts and we were wasting 1/2 a pot of coffee because of it. (He's on third shift & I work days) Both versions make great coffee and I love that you don't have to worry about broken or damaged glass carafes. You also don't get the burnt coffee taste and the coffee stays hot from first to last cup. The only reason I didn't give this smaller maker 5 stars is the lid seems to warp and not close tightly after just a few uses. The coffeemaker still works there's just a 1/2" gap between the front panel and front edge of the lid. That's really my only complaint about it and when this one wears out, we will replace it with another one. After using the Brew Stations for the last few years, I just can't see going back to a traditional drip maker or a percolator again.

Not 6 coffee cups - maybe 6 teacups
This was somewhat disappointing to me in that it does NOT brew 6 cups of coffee. If I fill to recommended line, it only brews 2 cups of coffee. If I fill to near over-flow line, I can eek out 2.5-3. Maybe the manufacturer has teacup size cups, I don't know, but it definitely does NOT brew 6 cups of coffee. This is fine for those who are the solo coffee drinker in the house, but it is not enough for 2. It does brew quickly, so when you have to make more, you won't be waiting long. I did not have the leakage problems that others reported, but I'm careful not to overfill the resevoir....and if you do, it will drain out of the opening at the back of the machine and on to your counter/floor. Overall, it brews a good cup of coffee...my only complaint is that it does not brew 6 cups of coffee as marketed.

Reservoir leaks
The coffee maker makes really good tasting hot coffee real quick. The problem with the unit is the coffee is stored in an internal reservoir. The coffee continually leaks out of the reservoir onto the counter. This really distracts from all of the other nice features.

Great coffee pot!
This coffee pot brews great coffee and is very attractive in our kitchen. It's also easy to program. I have paid much more for coffee pots that that didn't brew as well, and didn't look as well!

I have been using this coffee maker for a year. I like the design and coffee
is good. For the last month, it will not brew a pot without overflowing the
filter which results in grounds in the coffee. I have tried different filters
as well as coffees. I would not buy another Hamilton Beach!!

Okay, so after searching around for awhile I finally decided that the two most important features for me were that it was programmable and made a great cup of coffee.
The fact that it's red is just an upside :)
It is amazing! All the features work great and the coffee it makes is awesome! It's also SUPER not drippy. Which is really awesome. It's also appropriately sized - I was looking for something that wouldn't be too large for my dorm room.
Anyways - summarization - GREAT coffee, great features, great machine, and it's pretty too :)

This coffee maker has it all. Makes great coffee, easy to clean, warming plate stays nice and hot and you can not beat the color. Would buy this product over and over.

Average build quality but ok value for the price.
Quite difficult to clean, yet when clean brews excellent tasting coffee.
This has now served us daily in our office for 6 months.

Great coffee maker
We are so pleased with this coffee maker! Brews excellent coffee, it's easy to clean and no more worries about breaking the glass carafe. Coffee is kept warm longer than in the carafe, and it does not taste "old" later on. Only thing we miss when compared to our former Mr. Coffee is the "coffee-ready alarm". Hopefully, it will last a long time.

Really Good Coffee Maker
We had to replace our old coffee maker for a combination of reasons, and the wife wanted on that did not have an external carafe. I was very pleased when this arrived in about 36 hours (thanks, Prime)and we set it up for first use. The clock and timer functions were simple, the display was easy to read, and except for misjudging how much coffee to use for a full water-load, it worked beautifully. For the second pot we reduced the coffee by about 40%. We use large mugs, and they easily fit into the recess for pouring.

Workmanship is excellent, no hint of leaks, and the internal carafe keeps the coffee hot. The 2 removable pieces, the coffee holder and the internal carafe, are easily removed and cleaned.

Personally, I would have preferred if there was an external indicator, like a guage, of how much water is present before brewing. The internal carafe has indicators to measure water before you put it in the holding tank, but seeing the markings on black plastic is tough. We use a water jug with lines on it to measure full or half pots.

No Crema foam, makes frothed milk smell like chemicals/plastic
I purchased this item two weeks ago. I have tried all variations of espresso coffee/different grinds/tamping method. I have not ever been able to get any Crema foam. The shot of espresso is done in 10 seconds.....I have not been able to do anything to get a proper looking or tasting shot of espresso. I returned this one to the store to try another thinking maybe it was a faulty one.

I purchased the same Hamilton Beach espresso maker....went through the cleaning process before using...Wow...the smell of plastic coming from the stem wand was very strong. So I repeated the cleaning process...the same plastic smell. When I ran water from the steam wand into an empty cup as per instructions I could see small black pieces floating in the cup. I repeated the cleaning...same smell...same black pieces floating in water. I packed the machine up....and returned it to store.

I gave it a real good try...but I would not recommend this machine.
