Better Than I Expected
Absolutely love this machine. With all the stale coffee I poured down the sink in the past, I don't see how I can go wrong with this system. Makes a great cup of coffee.

Great single serve machine!
I use my Tassimo every day. I know some reviews felt that the new model, that I ordered, does not need to have the light that shines down into the cup, but it really does help you see the level your coffee is at if you are adjusting the strength. Also, you don't have to use the water filter if you already used filtered water. I probably will, just because I know that the better the filter the better the cup of coffee. ;-)

It is very easy to add water to the reserve. You can remove the tank and fill or you can just pour water into it where it sits. Cleaning is a snap too. You do have to use the cleaning disc, included and stored in the back, after using milk discs. But, if you do the milk first and then the coffee, you don't have to use the cleaning disc. I just wipe mine down after brewing every time and then use the cleaning disc every few days.

My dentist office has the Keurig brand, and it does NOT make as good a cup of coffee as the Tassimo. I love the flavor and I love that I can stop the brewing for a stronger cup if I am going to make iced coffee or I can add more water for my guests that like a weaker cup of coffee.

I buy the Gevalia espresso t-discs and make Americano coffee like I order at Starbucks. An Americano is espresso with hot water added and it tastes so much better than drip coffee. Pay attention to the serving size when you purchase your t-discs. Some will make a 16oz cup and some only make an 8oz cup.

My ONLY complaint is that the t-discs are not available in the grocery stores, but I DO like that Bed Bath and Beyond carry the t-discs. They send me a 20% off coupon every month, so I get them for a very low price!

A first-hand comparison of this and 2 Keurigs
I was able to compare all aspects of the following coffee makers:
The Keurig B40 Elite Gourmet (my parents own it)
The Keurig B70 Platinum Single Cup (we owned it and loved it until it recently died)
The Bosch Tassimo Titanium (we have been using it for the last month, ordered on Amazon)

So, because I always value lots of research myself prior to any major purchase, I thought I'd share my own personal observations and results should anyone else be comparing the two brands. Although I prefer my current Tassimo, there are aspects of the other coffee makers I also really like and that you might personally prefer over the one I chose so I thought, rather than simply saying which one I like best, I will pass along a first-hand comparison that my be helpful to other shoppers so they could decide what they like most...as a big shopper myself on Amazon, I thought my own comparison may save others time.

Speed:
This was one of my most important features but it may not be yours. The Bosch Tassimo was the only one that has a "stand by" system so the machine goes into stand-by after use, using less electricity but ready to use instantly without heat-up (By instantly I mean 4 seconds.) The Keurig does not have stand-by so you will need a 4 minute heat-up time but after that it's the same amount of time.
KB40: 4 min heat up time for first cup
KB70 4 min heat up time for first cup (but see notes, below, about the programmable "on" button if you wake up at the same time each day)
TT: due to a "stand-by" system you do not have to turn the coffee pot on and heat up water ever because this has a flow-through water heater for faster brewing, rather than heating the whole tank resulting in 4 second brewing for first cup. However, if you choose to unplug your coffee pot or never use the stand-by system for some reason the heat up time is about a minute.

Water Measurement:
On the Keurig you are going to get the same amount of water for every drink, depending upon the setting you have to manually input. On the Tassimo, there is a barcode on all the T discs that the coffee maker reads and automatically adjusts the water and temperature needed for that beverage. For example, a smaller T disc would automatically adust your water so the beverage is not diluted. However, should you prefer a weaker cup, you can hold down the button to add more during every brew. Which brings me to taste...
I always found my Keurig to be on the weak side unless I was brewing a 5.25 oz up. I don't find this to be true for my T-discs, even in very large cups of coffee. Incidentally, the Starbucks brand makes a large cup and very full-bodied if that's desired.

Types of drinks:
All offer cocoas, coffees, teas, lattes, cappuccinos, espressos I think Keurig actually has more choices at this time than the Tossimo.

Sound:
KB40 VERY loud and vibrating
KB70 less loud, still vibrates
TT: very quiet in comparison, no vibration

Other notes:
The KB70 allows you to change the temperature of your coffee and, although it doesn't have a stand-by mode to brew instantly, it does have a programmable on/off so that you can have it turn on at a certain time each day which is almost as good. This didn't work for me because I might want a coffee at 6am but if I want a tea at 4pm I would have to wait 4 minutes for heat up with the Keurig, but have it instantly on the Bosch since it can stay on standby at all times, powered down but not off and ready to brew instantly. The KB70 has a digital clock on it and the Tassimo does not. The Tassimo shows less coffee drips at the base than the Keurig if anyone does grab their cup too soon in a rush. The Tassimo comes with 2 Mavea Water Filters. Although they are optional, filtered water does take your coffee taste up a notch...even the Starbucks company insists on their machines (even in corporate offices) having the filter due to the taste change. So we use it...it just plugs into the water tank so it's easy to use or not. The Tassimo has a cup stand light that switches off when not in use for 5 minutes. The cappuccinos and lattes are better waaaay better on the Tassimo but regular coffee is really good on both...I like a bold cup though so I prefer the Tassimo not using more water in relation to coffee...doesn't taste as watered down even on the really light blends, the flavor comes through in my opinion.

Also note: The T-discs take up less room. If you keep a dispenser on your counter you can have lots of t-discs in them without refilling the dispenser frequently because they are flatter and more round rather than tall.

Conclusion: I like my parent's Keurig B40 which made me buy my Keurig B70 which I liked a lot until we used it to death and I decide to try out the Tassimo Titanium. Although each has aspects that are great, I love my Tassimo far more...HOWEVER, if some of the things that were important for me aren't as important to you, I think anyone would be happy with the Keurigs too over a regular brewer.

Here are some comparisons to a regular coffeemaker rather than a one cup:

The flavor of coffee is broken down by three things: light, heat, and air. Every time you open a bag of coffee to measure out and fill a regular coffee maker, you break down the taste because of this. Also, a regular brewer is cheaper but there is more waste. We always dumped out leftover coffee. Now we only brew what we drink. Also, as your pot sits, it is also exposed to the aforementioned elements making it stale. With either the Keurig or the Bosch Tassimo, you always get a fresh cup.

If you have guests, it's excellent because you can have various types of coffees and teas and each person can push one button and brew their own. You don't have to stop your entertaining at a dinner party to keep refilling coffee or asking if anyone needs any refills, or stop to brew a few pots during dessert...I have this at the end of the counter and there is no wait time...anyone can easily serve themselves with no instructions and there is no mess, no coffee measuring spoons, no coffee canister on the counter, no coffee beans in the trash or disposal, or spilling on the floor. Just take out the t-disk and throw it in the recycling bin. At least I can do that in Austin...it may be in the trash in other areas which would be a negative for the extra waste from the discs or keurig cups.

Taste coffee from this brewer before you buy
Before you commit the $$$ for this brewer, try taking a trip to your local small appliance retailer to see if you can sample the coffee. The taste of coffee is determined by the myriad of coffee chemicals extracted from the grounds. Grounds freshness, water temperature, brew time, etc. all play a role in how much and which chemicals are extracted into the coffee. The Tassimo unit appealed to me because it utilizes a unique barcode on each Tdisc that is supposed to automatically brew at the perfect settings. Unfortunately, I found that their selected settings were not optimum and the coffee tastes weak, watery and had little aroma. "Good" coffee is subjective so your perception might be different. However, of the half dozen or so people who tried a cup, all had similar feedback. I suspect the designers of Tassimo made some tradeoffs to decrease brew time and deliver each cup more quickly. The idea seems good but the execution seems lacking.

I sampled 4 different coffee brands and two cappuccino brands of Tdiscs - all of them yielded the same watery, weak results. There are no settings on this unit to change coffee strength except "add more water" at the end of the cycle - obviously not a help in my case. Interestingly, I cut open a T-disc and poured the contents into my AeroPress(tm) coffee syringe, poured 195F water, brewed 10sec, and made an OUTSTANDING cup of coffee. Not trying to sell the AeroPress(tm) but wanted to point out that it was the brewing system not the coffee that was to blame for the weak flavor.

As other reviewers point out, the T-discs are sturdy plastic and, although some suggest they are recyclable, my guess is that recyclers will sort these into trash because they contain wet foodstuff that will go rancid/mould. If you are an environmentalist you can't ignore their impact to the landfill.

If you are not too picky about the flavor of your coffee and place a much higher priority on speed, then this might be the brewer for you. However, for about the same money, consider the more versatile Zojirushi(tm) water warmer and AeroPress(tm) and make a much better cup in less time.

Great Technology, Great Coffee
I have had this for a week and love it. Spent a good amount of time deciding between the tassimo system and the keurig. After reading about the keurig's endless pump complaints and the lack of any milk k-cups I decided on the tassimo system.

This unit has a very sturdy feel to it and looks like it will last a long time. After a very simple setup I was making my first cup (Starbucks Latte). Unit operates quickly and with little noise.

So far the taste of every cup I have made has been near perfect. It is great that so little effort is needed to brew such a good cup. The ability to use the milk discs is fantastic and makes the tassimo system very flexible.

The one knock I have on the system is cleanup. Any product with a milk disc requires you to disassemble the spout and clean it. It's not a huge deal but kept me from giving the full 5 stars (4 1/2 stars).

If you are looking for a flexible single cup system that produces an excellent product than look no further.

1st one was better
My new Bosch Tassimo lasted three weeks and then started overloading the circuit. I called customer support and they are sending me a replacement. My 1st Tassimo lasted nearly two years and I was concerned it had wasnt filing the cup like I thought it should so I bought another one..well I'm using the old one again until my replacement for the replacement arrives.

So far, it's working very well.
This is a very easy to use machine, which I love. The cappuccino and latte milk t-disks do get the disk area a little dirty, but it's easy enough to wipe up.

Only issue I have with it: the instructions mention that it must be cleaned ("descaled")with a certain solution or it will not work correctly. This solution is not mentioned anywhere on the box or included in the box. It doesn't even mention it as a suggestion while ordering on-line as well, so it must not be too important. Hmmm... However, it seems to be working fine except for the weekly prompting to "descale" the machine.

Finally a great cup of coffee!
I have purchased single-serve brewers in the past, and I've never been satisfied with the weak coffee they brewed. Not so with my Tassimo! It's fast, remarkably quiet, and fabulous at producing a strong (not bitter!) cup of coffee. I've tried several brands of the discs, and they're all delicious. Clean-up consists of pulling out the disc and throwing it away. I love it, and I think it was well worth the money. I'm so glad a friend recommended it to me.

Good buy for a specific customer.

I purchased the Bosch after trying Senseo and Keurig coffee makers and yes, it makes the best tasting cup of coffee of all of the single cup makers in my opinion (if you use the Starbucks T-disk). Because the disks are not recyclable, this is incredibly environmentally unfriendly, also much more expensive than brewing a pot of coffee. The disks are hard to find other than online, the only place I have found them is Macy's. Because I really only want one cup of coffee a day and no one else in my house drinks coffee, this works for me. I would not recommend this for a normal coffee drinker. The instant gratification in the morning is a nice bonus however.

Absolutely the best
This machine was for my daughter. She reviewed and talked with a lot of her friends before getting me to buy this machine for her. The t-discs are available at a lot of stores (not wal-mart) and she says she is extremely happy with it.

Thinking about buying a Tassimo? Use a water softener? Reconsider your options!
We were suckers to buy a second machine, (but we did because we liked the coffee): Our first machine only lasted two years--a lot of money spent for the relatively short amount of time it was used. Lately, the discs often malfunction--the seals don't hold and it's no fun cleaning up grounds spewed EVERYWHERE, whether at 5 a.m. and leaving for work or right before a leisurely weekend breakfast. Customer service is frustrating, discouraging, and eventually enraging: Phone calls go to the Phillipines, where the reps have trouble understanding and speaking English; emails go to reps in Canada, where they "pass the buck", not able to answer legitimate questions and claiming they have no contact with the manufacturer of the discs. Faulty discs are replaced with more faulty discs--with the same date and time codes!!! and months after the initial report of problems!!!

And for those with a water softener: Be aware that there is a short sentence buried back on page 20-something in the instruction booklet: If you have a water softener, you should use bottled water in your machine. But, hey, we have a water softener and started using bottled water--a real pain to not be able to use fresh water from the tap--and our discs STILL blew up!! So who knows? Tassimo Customer Service sure doesn't!

And, if you still decide to buy a Tassimo, don't buy your discs through their online automatic delivery system: Delivery usually takes 2-3 weeks and you can never really be sure how or when the package was shipped. And replacement shipments are never tracked, per Tassimo policy.

I love my product...hopefully I will stay out of Starbucks as much as i can!

Keurig for Tassimo
I bought both the Keurig and Tassimo and ended up returning the Keurig. There is absolutely no comparison. The Keurig makes a watered down horrible cup of coffee that is along the lines of instant coffee. There is a not a single advantage about the Keurig. The Tassimo can do both coffee and specialty drinks such as lattes and caps. It heats up instantly unlike the Keurig. You are able to buy Starbucks coffee which is hands down the best for these type of machines. It saves more space and is better and more professional looking and has the ability to use creamer cups. All in all there is no comparison. Only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because nothing really compares to a strong home cup of coffee ground from the bean. However it is five stars for this type of machine that puts ease and speed into having quality coffee.

Its like a Keurig....Only Better
Coffee...check. Hot Chocolate...check. Latte....check. Expresso....check. Chappuccino...check. Wait but look at all the coffee flavors you can get on a Keurig. I prefer variety of drink over variety of flavor any day. Think for a second. How many different flavor sodas do you drink??? Probably 2-4. I don't see anyone complaining that we need more soda flavors. There is no need for the ridiculous amount of flavors offered on the Keurig. My new daily ritual is coffee before work, after. Best parts of my day. Great machine.

defective item
Received a defective item....how can this happen? Isn't there a quality control inspection before it is even packaged?! For the price that it is being offered, I think there should! Luckily i bought this through Amazon. The return process is so much easier than any other company. Returned this and ordered another....hopefully I get a unit that works this time.
