I had a battery-driven one before I bought this and there’s no comparison. The batteries not only go quickly, but the power dwindles along the way and you only get decent results right after changing the batteries.

I also had the Bodum hand frother, but it was a devil to clean and the glass container eventually broke.

I love the idea of frothing my own milk for lattes and have owned two other battery operated frothers in the past. Thought this was a great concept, since the amount of batteries I go through adds up. I purchased this “rechargeable” frother on July 1st, received it in about a week.. enjoyed it for 2 months and then the thing just stops. No charge what-so-ever, so it’s useless. At least with the battery operated chargers they lasted about 2yrs, NOT 2 months. WASTE OF MONEY.. So now I need to order a battery op frother. Save your time and your money and opt for battery operated NOT the Non-replaceable,2 month life battery. Great Concept— poor design.

By the way… the description says rechargeable frother… but once that “rechargeable” battery dies, in my case (2 month life), the batteries are NOT replaceable, NO exceptions.

I’ve purchased a number of frothers which I use daily to froth warm milk to top my coffee . Batteries on others fail and others have just stopped working . This rechargeable version is not only more powerful but reliable . Highly recommended !

NiCad AA 1.2 volt non replaceable batteries – Grenlock – Mideast USA
The one bit of very important information that is not stated anywhere (in the description OR in the reviews here, until this one) is that this is no different than any other 2-AA battery powered frother. It simply has 2 PERMANENTLY MOUNTED (non user replaceable) nickel cadmium 1.2 volt 600 ma AA batteries inside of it.

This means that if you store it on the counter in the charger after every use, it will quickly develop the dreaded “memory effect” of nickel cadmium batteries (i.e., if you use it for only one minute at a time before recharging it, the batteries begin to “think” that they only have enough power for one minute).

Since these batteries aren’t user replaceable, the item quickly becomes JUNK.

You could get the exact same thing by purchasing a standard 2-AA battery powered frother, then using NiCad AA batteries in it. A better option would be to use nickel metal hydride AA batteries, as those would run at 1.3 volts, and not suffer from a memory effect. They would also hold more power, as 600 ma in an AA is a VERY low standard nowadays. (Most NiMH AA batteries are available at 1800 ma at the lowest and go up to 2900 ma.)

Better yet is to just use a regular 2-AA battery powered frother with regular alkaline 1.5 volt batteries in it, as that will give you the best performance AND have user replaceable batteries. (You could even use lithium AA if you wanted something stronger still.)

Avoid this garbage item.

We were very pleased with the frother when we got it, it worked great, made a good froth and we took care to recharge it only when the battery ran down, but 3 months after we bought it, one morning it suddenly stopped working, completely dead.
